Loop Position Control (LPC)
New Needle Geometry for a Perfect Loop
With its new Loop Position Control geometry (LPC), Groz-Beckert offers users in the sewing industry a pathbreaking development for the solution of common sewing problems. The advantages of the new needle generation extend from increased needle stability and improved thread protection to more stable loop formation during the sewing process.
Sewing problems such as squashed threads or skipped stitches are quite common during production. To establish their causes, the most diverse factors need to be taken into account. This is not always simple - is it the material being sewn, the seamstress, the yarn, the sewing-machine needle - or a combination of several of them? Groz-Beckert has confronted this challenge and now offers a solution - with LPC.
The situation: In the sewing process, the thread is squashed during the downward stroke of the needle between the fabric and the edge of the longitudinal groove of the sewing needle. When using multifilament sewing threads, this results in twist displacement. Above the throat plate the thread remains twisted, while beneath it the thread filaments become displaced. The effect of this thread displacement and unravelling of the thread filaments is to impair loop formation.
Why Loop Position Control (LPC)? The rounder design in the area of the needle shank and the longitudinal groove leads to less pressure on the squashed thread and less thread displacement. The result is maximum protection of the sewing thread and, especially during critical applications, far more stable loop formation. Skip stitches and squashed threads are thus sharply reduced.
The maximum rounding of the LPC needle reduces the likelihood of sewing machine needle breakage significantly. In sum, LPC technology increases sewing machine needle stability and enables greater functional safety, perfect sewing quality and the utmost sewing efficiency.
The benefits of LPC technology at a glance
- Stable loop formation during sewing
- Maximum protection of the sewing thread due to special longitudinal groove geometry
- High-level protection against skip stitches
- Optimum care of the material and low penetration forces due to optimum needle rounding and a high surface quality
- Improved stability with the same cross-section
