Sustainability at Groz-Beckert

We see the focus on sustainability and the alignment of our actions with it as an opportunity to be competitive in the long term and to initiate change. In addition to politics, the economy must play a key role in shaping the green transition.

With this in mind, we at Groz-Beckert want to contribute our share in ecological and social terms and thus ensure responsible corporate governance. The values of our company determine our long-term strategy and guide us in our daily work: We want to act fairly, seriously and in partnership in every respect.

By the way: If you're wondering what jellyfish and sustainability have in common - these amazing creatures have the ability to produce light by themselves in the dark depths of the ocean, a process called bioluminescence. For us, this natural spectacle is a source of inspiration and motivation to become a role model and shape the path to a more sustainable world.

Diverse actions worldwide

Even though our sustainability management follows a holistic approach, our measures and projects are diverse. We are particularly focused on reducing our CO2 footprint. Our aim is to achieve CO2 neutrality in Scope 1 and 2 by 2040. To achieve this, we are investing in our own electricity supply at various locations worldwide.

At the same time, we are focusing on our product portfolio. The more durable our tools are, the greater the potential for saving energy and resources in our value chain, for example.

Another lighthouse project is the construction of our production building at our headquarters in Albstadt, which will be inaugurated in 2024. It will combine state-of-the-art building standards with the use of digitalization and virtual reality in product development and flexible collaboration models.

Employees in action

Our employees are an important pillar in our commitment to sustainability, because for us, sustainability starts with each individual. Their ideas, expertise and creative drive help us to effectively anchor the topic in our company and make it tangible in our everyday work.

This is why Groz-Beckert invites its employees to play an active role with the Green Team founded in November 2022 at our headquarters in Albstadt/Germany. Today, more than 40 colleagues work together on a variety of topics and activities, regularly exchanging ideas and acting as a source of inspiration for the specialist departments.

Learning from pilot projects

Our production site in Quang Nam, Vietnam, is setting new standards in the region with its holistic approach to sustainability.

Energy from the site's own photovoltaic system is used to power the building. Excess energy is stored in an ice storage unit to provide efficient cooling in this tropical country. Healthy meals in the canteen are provided by the on-site hydroponic farm, where employees grow lettuce.

Last but not least, the site does its bit for the workforce, for example by setting up a summer school for employees' children.
