Working student

Optimal combination of theory and practice

Since the beginning of 2022, I have been working as a student trainee in the HR department at Groz-Beckert alongside my distance learning business studies. I support the area of employer attractiveness. We deal with benefits, personnel marketing, company health management, ERA and pension schemes. My tasks are very varied and I am directly involved in the day-to-day business, so every day is full of variety.

I received a warm welcome during the induction period and have been highly valued since my first day at work. There are also team events and workshops, which help to build team spirit. My working hours (20 hours/week) are very flexible and can be arranged by arrangement. Working as a student trainee gives me the opportunity to focus on my studies and gain work experience at the same time. I earn enough money to cover my tuition fees and current living expenses. Working here often makes it easier for me to understand my studies. I also have the opportunity to write my dissertation here, which I find very exciting.

What I like about Groz-Beckert is that it offers so much to its employees. Even as a working student, I can work flexibly and on the move, and after work I can recharge my batteries in the TAF before returning to my studies at lunchtime.

From working student to master's thesis to permanent position at Groz-Beckert

I completed a double Master's degree at the Albstadt Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences (Data Engineering and Consulting) and at the Marconi University in Rome (Computer Science). I have been working as a student trainee at Groz-Beckert since February 2022 in the area of process and resource management, which also gave me the opportunity to write my master's thesis in this area. Now I have been taken on as a permanent employee and can continue to work on the topics of my thesis, which I find exciting.

The orientation phase was initially challenging for me, as the subject matter is very diverse. However, I was always actively supported by my supervisor and colleagues. The initial integration phase was very pleasant and I was integrated directly into the department. I also find the cooperation and interaction at Groz-Beckert very pleasant. At Groz-Beckert I have learnt to appreciate the collegial working atmosphere, the variety of activities and the opportunity to work independently.

Personally, I am very glad that I took the opportunity to write my thesis at Groz-Beckert and can only recommend it to others.

The perfect insight into the professional world

I was able to do my internship semester at Sewing Digital Sales and I really enjoyed it. My tasks were very varied; for example, I was responsible for designing an e-learning platform, video production and graphic design.

How did I end up at Groz-Beckert? I was familiar with the company because of its size and presence in the region. I was interested in gaining an insight into a large, global company. That's why I decided to make an unsolicited application. The application process was smooth. After submitting my application via the portal, I received an acknowledgement of receipt immediately and an invitation to an interview a short time later.

During the induction phase, I was welcomed in a very friendly manner, so I quickly felt that I had arrived. In my area, an open exchange of information and opinions as well as respectful interaction with each other was encouraged and practiced on a daily basis. Teamwork was very important. I found teamwork to be very positive. In projects, new ideas were always welcomed and we didn't think small but big about the future. Even when working with other areas, the exchange was always at eye level. Getting together for lunch was also a great way for the interns to get to know each other.

The internship was very interesting for me and I was able to take away many positive impressions and experiences from the working world. Thanks to the positive experience I gained, I can imagine starting my career here after graduation.

Alice Koch

Student trainee

As part of my studies in Textile and Clothing Technology at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University I got the opportunity to do a five-month internship at Groz-Beckert. During this time I could gather valuable practical experience and deepen the theoretical knowledge gained at university.

My internship at the Technology and Development Center (TEZ) was extremely varied. It started with Strategic Product Management, followed by the Technical Center Knitting, Technical Center Felting, Technical Center Carding and Technical Center Joining. Insights into different areas allowed me to gain a comprehensive overview of the individual departments in a short time and get to know the different facets of textile and clothing technology.

I particularly liked that I was often asked for my opinion or assessment and that my input was actually taken into account. This gave me the positive feeling that I was making a valuable contribution. I was given the opportunity to contribute my design ideas and work creatively. The comprehensive support in the individual Technical Centers and the detailed explanations from the colleagues helped me to learn new things quickly and get familiar with many different aspects. I really enjoyed being involved in the many tests, and any question I had was answered on the spot.

I perceived the working climate at Groz-Beckert as being very positive. The cooperation in the individual departments was characterized by a strong team spirit and respectful interaction. This allowed to handle all tasks quickly and efficiently.

My internship at Groz-Beckert was a highly enriching experience. Although I envision a professional future in a different field after my studies, I could gain valuable insights into the textile industry during my time at Groz-Beckert.
